Box Stitch Class a Hit!
Box Stitches Revisited April 11, 18, 25
Our box stitch sampler class was a hit last month. The enthusiastic stitchers had fun working in a class setting with our own Judy Russell teaching 10 different stitches. The class was a three-week session and several students admitted they hated to see them end.
So we'll do it again. A second set of box stitch classes will be held Wednesday April 11, 18 and 25 from noon to 2 p.m. Class fee is $75 and includes a drawn canvas, stretcher bars and a copy of the Quick Stitch reference book.
Space is limited and you must pre-register.
And stay tuned; in May we'll offer another class Stepping Out, another sampler of step stitches. Think Byzantine, Medieval, Jacquard Palace, oh my!
Confessions of a
Former Basketweave Queen
My name is Lucia and I once was under the spell of basketweave. I loved the repetitive nature of the stitch. While some complain about the monotony of a large background in basketweave, I loved it for the zen-like nature I could assume while doing it. So when the command came to do a box stitch sampler in preparation for the class, I rebelled. I don't want to think, I don't want to count. I love basketweave. But before I knew it I had the canvas in hand giving the mosaic stitch a shot. I grimaced, I groused. O basketweave, how I miss you.
And then it happened; it clicked. Suddenly these neat little boxes were skimming over my canvas. Then it was reverse mosaic and framed mosaic and diagonal mosaic. It wasn't difficult; it was fun!
I am a transformed needlepointer.
Come give the classes a try. If you're a novice, you'll learn new things. If you're more experienced you'll add new skills to your repertoire.
Take it from me, you'll be happy you did.
